I loved going to my birth class and having a doula run a guided meditation at the end of the class. It was such a beautiful way to relax, centre myself and connect with the wriggly life inside of me. Below is a meditation I wrote and conducted at my pregnancy oils workshop. Feel free to print it off and have someone read it to you. Find somewhere quiet, dim and comfortable and then relax away. It would be even better if you popped a little Frankincense on your feet and over your third eye before starting. Frankincense is the oil of truth and spiritual connection. Help feel connected to your baby not only physically but spiritually and emotionally. Enjoy.

GUIDED MEDIATION FOR PREGNANCY

If you would like to get comfortable, feel free to lie down or stay sitting. For optimal foetal positioning, lie down on your left side.

So once you are comfortable, close your eyes and take 3 big deep, slow breaths. In through your nose, feel your lungs expand, your chest rise and your belly fill, pause and release.

 

Just for the next few minutes, I want you to try and leave the worries of your day outside and just be present in this moment. Imagine your thoughts are like clouds. They float into your mind; you can observe them and then let them drift on. Blowing away to reveal a clear blue sky.

 

Pause

 

Now bring your awareness to your forehead and I want you to relax your forehead. Let the tension melt away, feel it run down your face, down your shoulders. Let your shoulders fall away from your ears as that tension slips away down your arms into the ground beneath you. Let mother earth soak up that tension like water. Feel her support beneath you. Let yourself feel heavy and grounded. Notice your legs relaxing into the ground.

Now focus on your jaw, are you still holding tension there? Release your jaw, allowing your teeth to separate.

 

Pause

 

Place one of your hands on your heart and the other over your womb. Smile, and know that you and your baby are one being, connected both physically and spiritually. Smile at your baby, your baby is feeling your love and your touch.

Your body is ancient and wise, and is growing your baby perfectly. Thanks to your placenta, your baby is receiving everything it needs to grow. This incredible organ is created just for this baby. Send your love and gratitude to your placenta and thank it for growing this baby.

 

Pause

 

Your baby is healthy, and strong and just the right size for your body. You were made to birth your baby as women have been birthing their babies for millennia. You are strong and powerful like Mother Earth. You are not broken. You are not flawed. You are an amazing goddess. With your hand over your womb, thank your body for creating this miracle.

 

Pause

 

Bring your awareness now to your heart. Your strong heart beat is soothing your baby every second of every day. It is filled with boundless love. Imagine that love as a golden light. See that light in your heart, feel its warmth beneath your hand. Watch as it grows and grows, filling your chest with golden light. Let that light flow around your body like liquid sunshine. Feel it run down you arms, down your legs to your toes. You are glowing with your boundless love. Feel your skin prickle with its energy. Now channel some of that love through your placenta, down the umbilical cord and let it flow into your baby. Imagine your baby glowing golden and warm with your love.

 

Pause

 

If your mind has drifted, come back to this room and notice your breath… Take three big deep breaths…in through your nose, feeling your chest and your tummy expand, pause and release.

 

Relax your hands now to wherever they are comfortable. Notice the ground beneath you, feel heavy and relaxed into the earth.

 

You are calm, you are relaxed and your heart is open.

 

When you are ready, wriggle your toes and your fingers, come back in to your body and when you are ready gently open your eyes.
